Eggs from pasture raised hens

When we first moved to our farm in 2013, we knew we wanted laying hens. We picked out a variety from the feed store and set out to raise happy, free range and organic hens. Soon we learned how difficult it is to protect free range hens from predators. We knew we had to find a better way. We designed and built our own mobile chicken coop and purchased moveable electric fencing. This provided a large moveable paddock for our hens, while giving them some extra protection from predators. Later, we added a livestock guardian dog for some extra protection. Our hens are fed a corn and soy free feed ration grown from a farm just down the road from us. They grow their feedstuff organically and utilize a large amount of sunflower to make a feed our hens thrive on. Our eggs are $5/dozen. We also occasionally have laying hens or pullets for sale.
